We’ve been at Mom and Dad’s since Friday—having a really good time.
Dad heated up the pool for us so we could swim again (just like we did at Thanksgiving). We all love that.
Today we went to Fort DeSoto—there’s an old Spanish-American War fort there, as well as a really nice beach. We walked a lot, picked up some nice sea shells.
We won’t be picking anymore grapefruits on this trip, as the neighbor had Dad empty her tree a couple of weeks ago—the ripe fruits were starting to fall and would attract fruit rats if they weren’t cleaned up (yuck).
My thrill for this trip is that I actually beat my mom at Scrabble! I’ve never done that! My mind must have been especially sharp last night. . .
Well, I’m rather tired, and know this is boring, but I just wanted to say hello to everyone. This computer they have is not especially user-friendly, so I will have to wait until I’m back home to read y’all’s blog news and write some more of my own.
We are going to TiVo Jane Eyre tonight on Masterpiece Theater so we can watch it tomorrow. The guys monopolize the TV this time of year with FOOTBALL! (Otherwise, we would watch it tonight like civilized people.)
If you’ve not heard, starting January 13, Masterpiece Theater will be doing all the Jane Austen novels, including new versions of Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. I am so excited!

I am so tired today cuz I watched Jane Eyre TWICE last night! I couldn’t help it…I knew I had today off. And the 8pm viewing was interupted just slightly by children and a phone call. I simply HAD to stay up to watch the midnight viewing. I had the house all to myself…pure silence…nothing but Jane and Rochester.
I love the book and I love the Masterpiece Theatre version. I don’t think the actress they chose to play Jane could be any more perfect for the role.
I hope you enjoy it Kim when you get your chance to see it! And thanks for the hint about the upcoming shows. I hadn’t seen the advertisements for it. They aired a fantastic version of Persuasion a few years ago… is it going to be that one? Hope so, I’ve wanted to see that one again.
