Plumbing Perils, Part 2

As I mentioned in my previous Plumbing Perils post, we had to have the plumbers come back a second time, because we thought the leaky pipe they fixed wasn’t actually fixed and was leaking again.

Well, fortunately (and unfortunately), the fixed pipe was just fine. It was a second section of pipe, about a foot away from the first, that was leaking. We also found out that the puddle beneath our bedroom window (outside) was being caused by yet another leaky pipe.

I had pointed out this puddle to the first plumber who came out—the one who fixed leaky pipe #1 in the kitchen floor—but he dismissed it. He also failed to check the water pressure, which, it turns out, was 105 pounds per square inch, where it ought to have been between 50 and 60!

So we had this hole in our kitchen floor.

It’s filled in with fresh concrete now, but until we get new flooring, it’s going to stay ugly.

More money down the drain. But hopefully we’ll stay plumbing-peril free for a while now!
