Hello, Friends!
Hope you had a lovely Memorial Day weekend. We’ve just returned from our trip to St. Pete Beach. We had a great time; the kids didn’t want to leave—and I wasn’t real keen on coming back home, either!
The best thing we did was swim. I also had fun visiting a new used book store with my mom. Two not-so-great things about our visit: the dog (our dog) bit my little niece on the nose, and two of our boys got fevers and were out of sorts for a day.
As to the dog situation, Dodger is old and crabby and pretty much blind. Emerald is almost 2 and active and sweet and loves dogs. Mom and I were out shopping when she chased him around the house and got him cornered under a table. The menfolk weren’t paying real close attention, and she got nipped.
We all felt horrible about the situation, but Emerald was fine, and all learned a lesson about keeping a better eye on things in the future. All of my kids have been bitten by the dog and have learned to keep their fingers (and features!) away from his face. He’s just like the dog we had when I was a kid (also a Shih Tzu)—he was a great dog, but when he got old, he had cataracts and arthritis and was a big grouch and would bite anybody who tried to mess with him.
But I digress….
All said and done, it was a wonderful trip.
Here is a picture of Urban, Charlie, and Levi in the pool, with their cousin (my brother Tim’s son) Salvador (in the goggles).
