Outside My Window…It’s a bright, blue-sky day. Out on the back porch, I see that the last of the kitchen garden produce is ripening (tomatoes, peppers); the marigolds are looking cheerful as ever.
I am thinking…About how much work there is to do! My parents are visiting us, and they’ve been helping us get our house in order. It feels great to get things accomplished, but it’s pretty exhausting!
I am thankful for…The aforementioned parents. They are so industrious and inspiring!
From the kitchen…Pizza Margherita. The other night, we gathered tomatoes and basil from the porch garden, combined it with garlic and olive oil and mozzerella, a little salt and pepper on homemade pizza crust. Delicious!
I am wearing…A hot-pink T-shirt, khaki shorts, and navy blue slippers. My hair is still in its braid from last night (I almost always braid my hair before bed).
I am creating…A more organized home!
I am going…To Target—if not today, then tomorrow. I desperately need a new filter for my vacuum cleaner.
I am reading…The Dream Hunter by Laura Kinsale and Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver.
I am hoping…To get a lot done before Mom and Dad leave on Wednesday. I know that once they’re gone, it will be harder to be motivated to get things accomplished.
I am hearing…My kids, making a ruckus in the living room.
Around the house…Brian and Dad have both gone out—Brian to work, Dad to Wal-Mart (just to get out of “the cave” [our house!] for a while). Mom and I are getting set to organize, either the kitchen or the garage.
One of my favorite things…Pears soap, from England. I washed my face with it this morning. It smells like fresh herbs.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…Work on the house (cleaning, organizing, filling boxes with stuff to donate to charity); fellowship with Mom and Dad; mow the lawn (Dad helped Brian repair the mower); write to Sabrina.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…
