A few weeks ago, I expressed to my mom a kind of dread of turning 35. She replied that she had found 35 to be a very nice age. “The perfect age,” she called it.
Her reasoning: “At 35, you’re still young, but you’ve also had some experience, and you’re old enough to be taken seriously.”
So starting today, I’ve got one year to live life at “the perfect age.” Whatever shall I make of it?
(This funny, old-fashioned-looking portrait was taken when I was around 1-1/2, I think. I didn’t want to sit still for the photographer because I was excited about visiting some friends afterwards!)

Happy Birthday!!! I’m 34 myself, and looking forward to 35. I refuse to let birthdays bug me until my forties, and by then I hope to be so much more mature that it doesn’t bother me, anyway. Carpe diem!
