Was knock down this tree in our yard. More like, “pull it out by the roots,” actually. It knocked over the fence and fell straight across our neighbor’s swimming pool. Amazingly, it was just short enough that it didn’t hit their house—just sort of “brushed” it. (This tree is bigger than it looks, by the way—probably about 1-1/2 feet in diameter at the base of the trunk!)
Would you believe? Our insurance company says the clean-up is not our responsibility—we’re not liable for this mess. Why? Because the tree was not dead to begin with. We told the neighbor to check with his insurance, too. Likely, it won’t be worth getting insurance involved at all (you know they’d just cancel his policy the next day, right?). So we’ll probably split the cost of a tree service.
At least they don’t have to cut down the tree. Merely chop it up. And we’ll have plenty of wood for the fireplace this winter!
Here are some photos my husband took.
I still find it so incredible that the house was left unscathed!

Hi Kimberly,
Thanks a lot for your comment, you really do put a positive spin on things. I just haven’t had time alone for so long that it’s hard to remember how to embrace it… I have been watching a lot of old movies over the last few days and it seems funny but there are time when I think that I could be like that, you know? – a beautiful woman in a romantic story, where everything is scripted and I have a big part to play. I guess I’m not sure I’m ready to spend time alone.
You won’t realise how much your messages help me out. Thankyou so much Kimberly.
Nicky xx
