Thank You, Florida Democratic Party

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be writing about politics on my blog. It’s one of those topics you’re never supposed to discuss. Yet, I already talk plenty about the other “no-no,” religion, so what the heck?

I just returned from my mailbox, where I picked up not one but two identical large, shiny, colorful flyers, both addressed to me, personally.

The first thing I noticed was the large photo of a lovely, short-haired woman in a nurse’s jacket with her name—Valerie Baron, FNP—emblazoned on it. Then I noticed the two quotes parallel to her image.

First, in yellow letters:

John McCain says that Roe V. Wade ‘must be overturned.’

Beneath that, in larger, white letters, this quote from the nurse practitioner in the picture:

Most Americans believe these decisions should be between a woman and her doctor. John McCain’s support for a total ban on abortion will take us back to those dark times.

Hm. I wondered what this was all about, so I flipped the flyer over.

On the top of side two, in large yellow letters:

John McCain. Out of touch with women’s lives.

Ah-ha. I see.

More quotes from the flyer:

(This a McCain quote, placed directly above his photo)

Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned.

Then this,

John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench.

And then,

According to the Washington Times, ‘advisers to John McCain’s presidential bid say he will not try to “soften” the Republican party’s platform on abortion,’ which calls for a complete ban.

Finally,

John McCain even received a 0% rating from Planned Parenthood.

Flipped back to the front to see that this fancy advertisement was paid for by the Campaign for Change, a project of the Florida Democratic Party.

Now, here’s the thing. I haven’t been a real fan of either presidential candidate throughout the long duration of all this election-year process. Yesterday, I was reading a post on this priest’s blog that really got me wondering if McCain was really as pro-life as he seemed. I mean, his choice of Sarah Palin as V.P. running mate is a huge bonus, but the man himself? Hm. Not so sure.

And now today to get these two lovely flyers, reassuring me that John McCain is pro-life enough to get a “0% rating from Planned Parenthood” and that he has no thought of softening the Republican party’s platform on abortion…..

Happy news, indeed.

Mind you, there is still the question of his support of embryonic stem cell research to consider, as well as other candidates to investigate.

At this point, however, I have to offer my thanks to the Florida Democratic Party. I’m not sure how they reasoned that telling people John McCain is opposed to killing millions of unborn babies would make him look bad—obviously there are some people who disagree with his view—but for my part, I am breathing a sigh of relief.

At least I now know with absolute certainty which party’s candidate I will not be voting for.

I, too, got the same flyer here in Wisconsin paid by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. I, for one, am thinking this flyer will make millions happy. The sentence stating, “John McCain even received a 0% rating from Planned Parenthood.” is a no brainer. Planned parenthood is for abortion so why would they endorse John McCain? Also, the “nurse’s” quote, “Most Americans believe these decisions should be between a woman and her doctor.” is totally wrong. There was a man involved in this. He, too, should get to decide. I know men who have been devastated because of their baby being aborted. Some men even killed themselves because of the abortion and not being able to see and hold the baby plus watch him/her grow up. Too many people think an abortion is an easy way out and that no one is harmed by it. I know this is true. I had an abortion back in 1975 and went through hell because of it. During the abortion proceedure, you realize this is a baby being torn from your body but it is too late, the baby is ripped apart! Yes, I know there are women who say they are glad they had the abortion done but I will bet they do at some point get the memory of that abortion back. Drinking and drugs only numbs the pain for so long.
Ok, I’m done with that part. As for the flyer, if this is all the Democratic party can complain about, guess McCain isn’t too bad. (I did not originally plan to vote McCain-I do not vote by party)

Do me and ultimately you a favor and let Valerie Baron that Life Begins at Conception and that she looks like a man in her democratic advertisement photo. I don’t kill babies.

My household also recv’d same postcard here in Michigan. As a pro-life Operating Room Nurse for over 30 years I have some interesting observations to add. Abortions are usually called: VIP’s (Voluntary Interuption of Pregnancy). They are most often performed in clinics or outpatient surgery centers. Since O.R. Nurses have the right NOT to participate in them, several of these centers have trouble finding nurses that WANT to participate. WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS? Not much of a VIP in my mind!
